It’s back! The founders of the Arizona Taco Festival are partnering with The Camby, a luxury lifestyle urban hotel, to throw an exciting event on National Guacamole Day, September 16th, 2017, called Rock The Guac. This is the second time that this event is taking place. Last years event was amazing, so I can only imagine how much bigger this years will be at The Camby. The event will pit (pun intended!) more than 12 of the Valley’s top chefs against each other in a friendly culinary battle while providing a festive way for guacamole fans to “rock out with their guac out.” This fiesta also marks the final countdown until the Arizona Taco Festival at Salt River Fields on October 14-15, 2017.
Tickets to Rock The Guac cost $40 and come with unlimited guacamole samples, a gourmet taco station provided by The Camby, and two drink tickets good for Casa Noble margaritas and Corona cervezas. The event will also include live lucha libre wrestling, flamenco dancing performances, and DJ. Participating chefs include:
Forest Hamrick- La Hacienda – 2016 Rock The Guac winner
Dushyant Singh- Artizen, Crafted American Kitchen & Bar at The Camby Hotel
Richard Hinojosa- CRUjiente Tacos
Aaron Pool- Gadzooks Enchiladas & Soup

I’ve always been a fan of monthly subscription services. You sign up for a product or category that you love and every month, a box arrives to your doorstep with a new product to try! Genius! Probably the most well-known monthly subscription boxes would have to be for makeup or clothing, but I’ve found one that tops them all: Winc, a personalized wine club and winery offering an online membership experience for monthly wine delivery!
Imagine coming home from a long work week to a box containing 4 different kinds of wine for you to enjoy! No having to stop at the store and stare blankly into the abyss of infinite wine bottles. No settling for the exact same bottle you’ve enjoyed several times before because you’re too afraid to try something new! Problem solved! Winc provides a short survey for you to complete in order to provide you with the 4 best wine selections tailored to your tastes! Whether you prefer only red wine, only white wine, or both red and white, Winc can accommodate your preferences! You can even swap your recommendations for other available bottles of wine! What a great way to expand your wine palette and try new things.
Winc even provides easy ways to earn free bottles of wine when you refer friends or you can earn credit towards wine when you rate 10 bottles of wine! Not completely satisfied with a certain bottle of wine? Winc will replace it! Looking to purchase a case of 12 bottles? You’ll save 10% every time you purchase a case of 12! How can you go wrong with such an easy subscription that any adult would enjoy? You can even send Winc as a gift by choosing from a selection of their carefully curated pairings or send a gift card for the recipient to choose what they want.
I enjoy trying new things and wine is no exception. My favorite part of the Winc subscription is the “Winc Journal” – a monthly guide to having fun with wine – plus customized recipe pairings for the bottles you received! I know I always have a hard time figuring out what food goes with certain types of wine, but Winc makes it so easy!
Interested in trying Winc? Click here to get started and use my code “RubyRed” for $20 off your first months order! Cheers!
Calling myself a foodie would be an understatement and there’s nothing more exciting than trying a new local restaurant! I decided to take my excitement and put it into writing by blogging about NEW and LOCAL restaurants around Phoenix that you definitely need to try! First up: Grubstak in Gilbert, AZ. (more…)
Ahh! Christmas is less than a week away, and if you’re anything like me, you’re nowhere near done buying for all of the special people in your life! So while you’re frantically searching store to store and on numerous sites on the internet, I’ve decided to put a gift list together of my own ranging from small, yet perfect for anyone to outrageously awesome. You know…balance. Have a look:
It’s everybody’s favorite weekend: The Arizona Taco Festival weekend! Yay Tacos! For two days only, you can go to one location and taste a variety of tacos from restaurants all over the Phoenix area!
When the tag line of an event is “Rock out with your Guac out,” you know it’s about to be one hell of a time!
If you’re anything like me, eating a big bowl of fruit doesn’t sound too exciting. But once you blend up fruit into a smoothie, I’m all about it!
I love cooking but its hard to find a way to cook just for yourself without having to eat all of the left overs! Creating individual or bite-sized meals makes this easy! (more…)
Who doesn’t love Jalapeno Poppers? Usually, poppers are comprised of just a deep fried and breaded jalapeno that is filled with either cream cheese or cheddar cheese that is small enough to be demolished in 1 to 2 bites (varies by how big of a mouth you have and how hungry you are at the time). But with this recipe, I decided to switch it up a bit…
Spice up your plate with this delicious twist to the basic, everyday salmon. Seasoned with a little kick and topped off with a cool and refreshing salsa to cut the heat just enough for a winning combination.
